A 1,200 × 550 mm (47.2 × 21.7 in) vanity top suits a 900–1,000 mm (35.4–39.4 in) cabinet; confirm basin template, wall datum and 850–900 mm (33.5–35.4 in) height. Use 20 mm (0.79 in) where closely supported; use 30 mm (1.18 in) around unsupported cutouts or edges.
The useful vanity dimensions start with the cabinet, not the slab
Start with a 850–900 mm (33–35 in) finished height and a 500–600 mm (20–24 in) cabinet depth, then fit the stone to the basin and plumbing rather than treating those figures as universal. The slab must cover the cabinet carcase, clear the doors, and leave the intended side and front overhang.
| Vanity decision | Planning range | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Finished height | 850–900 mm (33–35 in) | A vessel or undermount basin changes the standing height. |
| Cabinet depth | 500–600 mm (20–24 in) | Basin and faucet reduce usable counter space. |
| Top thickness | 20 mm or 30 mm (0.79 or 1.18 in) | The cutout and edge build-up alter the remaining stone. |
| Side overhang | 15–30 mm (0.6–1.2 in) | Wall gaps and door swings set the exact reveal. |
Marble density is commonly given as 2.5–2.8 t/m³ (156.1–174.8 lb/ft³), so the countertop alone is a substantial moving load. A 1,200 × 550 mm (47.2 × 21.7 in) top weighs about 33–37 kg (72.8–81.6 lb) at 20 mm (0.79 in) and 49.5–55.4 kg (109.1–122.2 lb) at 30 mm (1.18 in); packing, the sink, and fixings add more.
Choose the cabinet format before fixing the stone layout
An integrated top-and-basin design, a separate vanity top, and a wall-hung cabinet place different demands on the slab edge and fixing points. A separate top suits a fixed, level carcase; a wall-hung unit needs a load path and service access; an integrated unit needs one approved fabrication drawing.
Order from a combined cabinet, basin, tap, and wall drawing. That places the sink in the visible stone and exposes differences between the cabinet centerline and the room’s usable centerline before cutting.
Can Amazstone make a vanity for my cabinet and basin?
Stock options and custom vanities are available from one piece. Share the cabinet dimensions, basin, tap and stone finish so the team can send relevant vanity options, a quote and the production plan. Production takes about 20 days after deposit and drawing approval, with about 30 days for shipping.
Stock and custom production are available with a minimum order of 1 piece; request this category's product list.

Stone stone vanities in our collection

Match the marble label to the room’s light and cleaning routine
The marble names are trade labels, not a guarantee that every bathroom suits the stone. Shangrila Marble, Sakura Pink Marble, Jade Green Cloud Marble, Ice Jade Marble, and Rosa Levanto Marble need a real slab check for pattern scale and finish.
For a powder room, place the strongest movement away from the basin cutout. For a double vanity, inspect the usable area remaining on both slabs, because two attractive slabs may not make a matched pair.
Measure the basin, faucet and wall before fixing the top size
Measure the actual wall-to-carcase line, the basin’s outside dimensions, and the tap’s spout reach before choosing a 900, 1,200, or intermediate width. A 900 mm (35 in) cabinet is not automatically a 900 mm (35.4 in) finished top once side reveals and wall tolerances are included.
| Check | Measure | Drawing result |
|---|---|---|
| Carcase width | Front and back wall-to-carcase dimensions | Top width and side reveals |
| Basin opening | Template plus fixing flange | Cutout and minimum stone margins |
| Faucet reach | Spout outlet and handle swing | Drill centers behind the basin |
| Door swing | Hinge side and pull projection | Overhang that clears the doors |
If the wall is out of square, document the widest and narrowest dimensions instead of averaging them silently. The fabricator can then set the side reveal on the visible side and absorb the difference at a scribe or return.
A sink cutout changes how the slab must be supported
An undermount basin removes the center of the top and transfers support to the remaining border, so the quotation must show reinforcing rails, a subtop, or another approved method. A 20 mm (0.79 in) slab can be appropriate when the opening and base are engineered together; it is not a clear-span thickness recommendation.
Approve the basin clips, radiused cutout corners, front stone width, wall brackets, and any seam together. A visually thick laminated edge can conceal a narrow structural border, and a hidden fixing can fail without leaving service access.
Solid stone does not eliminate the need for cabinet structure. On a floating vanity, the wall substrate, hidden brackets, and plumbing maintenance access are part of the top design, not separate installation details.
Treat a marble vanity top as acid-sensitive, even when sealed
Wipe toothpaste, soap, perfume, and cosmetics promptly, and use a pH-neutral stone cleaner rather than an acidic bathroom product. Sealing slows absorption but does not change calcite’s reaction to acid.
- Blot a spill, rinse with clean water, and dry the stone.
- Use a tray for perfume, oil, and colored toiletries.
- Avoid acidic descalers, vinegar, citrus cleaners, and abrasive pads.
- Test sealer on an inconspicuous area and follow its cure instructions.
- Keep basin silicone sound so water cannot work behind the edge.
The Natural Stone Institute’s care guidance treats stone-specific cleaners and timely spill removal as basic practice. A honed surface and a polished surface can react differently to the same mark, so keep a document of the supplied finish.
Trade projects need a coordinated drawing set and approved terms
A trade order should combine the room dimensions, cabinet drawing, basin template, tap schedule, edge sample, and stone batch approval in one release package. Quantities, schedules and prices remain subject to the written quotation; stock is available, but sizes and quantities are not published.
| Commercial term | Approval needed before the order |
|—|—|
| Order quantity | 1 piece |
| Production schedule | About 20 days production + about 30 days shipping; production starts after deposit receipt and drawing confirmation |
| Price basis | Vanity quote on request through Contact |
| Stock position | Yes, stock is available. Sizes and quantities are not published. |
Ask for a sink cutout drawing with dimensions, not just a rendered view. The same drawing should identify the finished edge, backsplash height, tap holes, drain clearance, and the visible side that must receive the better slab face.
What do vanity buyers still need to confirm?
Is marble practical for a bathroom vanity top used daily?
Marble can suit a daily-use vanity when the chosen slab is sealed and acidic cleaners, dye, and abrasive grit are kept off it. Filled or honed marble may hide surface variation; polished marble shows etching more readily. Confirm the slab, finish, sink template, and maintenance routine before fabrication.
How deep should a 900 mm wide vanity top be?
Plan 500–600 mm (20–24 in) of finished depth for many bathroom vanities, then reduce the usable counter behind the basin. A 900 mm (35 in) wide cabinet usually needs a top wide enough to cover the cabinet plus a small side overhang; confirm wall and plumbing dimensions on site.
Does a marble vanity top need sealing?
Many marble tops benefit from a penetrating sealer, but sealing does not make calcite acid-resistant. Follow the sealer maker’s cure and reapplication instructions, test an inconspicuous area, and wipe toothpaste, perfume, wine, and citrus promptly. A honed finish can look less changed after etching than a polished one.
