Emperador Marble (Dark & Light)

Emperador Marble covers dark and light commercial grades, not interchangeable names. A 454 mm (17.9 in) China Emperador side table is 560 mm (22 in) high. For a 1,200 × 600 × 20 mm (47.2 × 23.6 × 0.79 in) top at 2.7 t/m³ (169 lb/ft³), expect 38.9 kg (85.7 lb); specify the grade.

What should I know about Emperador Dark and Light?

Emperador is used across several brown and gray color descriptions. Check the exact grade before treating one Emperador table as equivalent to another.

ParameterWhat to know
AppearanceDark brown to lighter brown or multicolor fields with lighter, darker or gray movement
Available variantsMarron Emperador dark, Light Crystal Emperador, China Emperador and Emperador Fume
OriginChina Emperador is a named variant, but no single quarry applies to every grade
Stone typeEmperador Fume is marble; the dark and light variants do not identify a subtype
Hardness referenceCalcite marble is near Mohs 3; test the exact slab
Density screening band2.5–2.8 t/m³ (156–175 lb/ft³); use slab data for engineering
Furniture thickness20 mm (0.79 in) and 30 mm (1.18 in) are practical choices with full support
Relative price bandTier 1 of 5 for several variants; request a current quote for exact pricing

The Marble reference supports calcite hardness and acid-care context. ASTM C503 adds specification requirements, but the commercial grade still needs identification.

Why do Emperador photos need a neutral color reference?

Dark brown and warm gray are especially sensitive to white balance. A photograph may look black, chocolate or taupe without showing which grade it represents.

Photograph the slab with a neutral gray card and a close view of one vein. Note the finish and light temperature. For a matched set, show the cuts in one frame. The gallery image is a representative view, not proof of the Emperador grade or stock available for a project.

How much can Emperador Marble vary between grades?

“Dark” and “Light” are broad color directions rather than precise coordinates. The source catalog includes dark brown, light multicolor, brown China Emperador and gray Emperador Fume, so background hue can change more than the names imply.

A dark slab can look almost black; a light or gray example may read as taupe. Approve top and edge color together. For a pair, reject mixed warm brown and cool gray unless intentional.

Which furniture uses fit Emperador Marble?

Side, coffee and dining tables are natural fits for a brown marble anchor. Console tables and vanities work when the darker surface does not overpower the room and cleaning is kept simple.

Furniture useSuitability and condition
Side tableGood; LAF-G051 is a 454 × 454 × 560 mm (17.9 × 17.9 × 22 in) China Emperador table
Coffee tableGood with full support, sealed edges and a restrained room palette
Dining tableConditional; prompt food and wine cleanup is necessary
Console or vanityConditional; dark surfaces reveal dust and soap residue more readily
Outdoor tableNeeds climate-specific review; not a default outdoor material

The available side-table details cover its dimensions and material name. Finish, base, weight, packing and stock must be confirmed for the item you order.

What colors pair well with dark and light Emperador?

Cream and camel warm the brown; charcoal and black tighten contrast. Avoid cool blue-gray with warm chocolate unless their undertones have been compared.

Grade directionSupporting colorsExpected effect
Dark brownCream, camel, brassA warm, grounded focal surface
Light or gray-brownTaupe, stone gray, linenA softer brown-gray composition
Either gradeBlack, charcoal, off-whiteSharper edges and stronger contrast

A 900 mm (35 in) top shows less of a large vein than a 2,000 mm (79 in) dining top. Compare the sample with floor and cabinets.

What should an Emperador Marble quote confirm?

The quote must identify whether the stone is Dark, Light, China Emperador or another variant and connect that name to a slab. A difference in grade or usable area can outweigh a small change in the headline rate.

Commercial checkWhat to ask for
Grade and sourceAsk the supplier to distinguish Dark or Light, state the quarry or region, cite a public source and identify the approved slab in the written offer.
Finish and formatPut the approved slab’s surface, thickness, filling, mesh or reinforcement in the written offer, not only in a sample photograph.
Price basisSlab and finished-piece quote on request through Contact

Ask whether the edge is solid or laminated. A 20 mm (0.79 in) slab built up to 40 mm (1.57 in) can look thicker while using less stone than a solid top.

What are the weaknesses of Emperador Marble?

Etching, chips at edges and visible dust are the practical issues. A dark surface hides some stains but often shows pale water marks and soap residue.

  • Use coasters under glasses and wipe wine, citrus and vinegar immediately.
  • Clean with a pH-neutral stone product rather than an acidic bathroom spray.
  • Lift objects instead of dragging them across the finish.
  • Keep a care document of the sealer test and reapply when absorption increases.

See the marble cleaning and etching guide for care and does marble stain for the difference between residue and absorbed liquid.

Which dark stones should you compare with Emperador?

Grand Antique is a black-and-white breccia, Nero Marquina is a dark marble with white veining, and Rosso Levanto introduces red-brown movement. Emperador is best when the room needs a brown field.

AlternativeVisual differenceUseful when
Grand Antique MarbleBlack background with large white fragmentsA graphic breccia is wanted
Nero Marquina MarbleBlack field with white veinsThe palette needs no brown
Rosso Levanto MarbleRed-brown field with lighter movementA warmer red-brown accent is desired

Which Emperador furniture is available?

The clearest example is a round China Emperador side table. The linked collections do not mean every item uses Emperador.

What do buyers ask about Emperador Marble grades?

Is Emperador Marble good for a dining table?

A sealed, fully supported Emperador top can suit a dining table when the dark finish and maintenance routine match the household. It remains acid-sensitive marble, so wine, citrus and vinegar need prompt wiping. A busy table may show crumbs and ring marks clearly. Approve the exact dark or light grade and protect the surface with coasters.

What is the difference between dark and light Emperador?

Dark and Light describe commercial color groups, not interchangeable names for one slab. Our project catalog lists dark brown Marron Emperador, light Crystal Emperador, China Emperador and a gray Emperador Fume entry. Compare the actual background, veining, finish and source. A dark photograph, screen calibration or vague price listing cannot establish the grade.

Does Emperador Marble need sealing?

Marble furniture normally needs a penetrating sealer selected for the exact slab and finish. Sealing slows liquid absorption but does not make the stone acid-proof. Wipe spills promptly, clean with a pH-neutral stone product and test a hidden area before treatment. Reapply when a water-drop test shows the surface absorbs faster.

Can Emperador Marble furniture go outside?

It requires a separate outdoor assessment rather than a general yes. Rain, sun, freeze-thaw, dirt and acidic fallout can change a marble surface, while dark colors absorb more solar heat. Confirm drainage, cover, sealer performance and fabricator approval for the actual climate. Indoor furniture remains the safer starting use for this commercial marble family.
