Marble & Stone Side Tables

Set a marble side table near the sofa-arm height, commonly around 500–600 mm (20–24 in). Most designs finish at 560 mm (22.0 in). A solid 454 mm (17.9 in) diameter, 20 mm (0.79 in) marble top at 2.7 t/m³ (168.6 lb/ft³) weighs 8.8 kg (19.4 lb), before its base.

Which side-table shapes and stones are available?

Amazstone offers eighteen round side tables, with nominal widths from 350 to 580 mm (13.8 to 22.8 in) and heights from 440 to 560 mm (17.3 to 22.0 in). They include thirteen stone names, from pale marbles and dark Nero Marquina to green Verde Alpi, Verde Guatemala and Beige Travertine.

Which side-table collection fits the surrounding furniture?

Height comes first: an end table that cannot meet the sofa arm is awkward regardless of stone. After that, choose the visual role. Pale marble reduces contrast; black marble creates a strong edge; green stone makes the mineral pattern part of the room.

Can I order one side table in a custom size?

Amazstone offers stock side tables and custom pieces from one table. Send the height you need at sofa-arm level and your preferred top shape to ask for the current side-table list and a quote; the team replies within 24 hours.

Stock and custom production are available with a minimum order of 1 piece; request this category's product list.

Is marble a practical material for a side table?

Marble is suitable when the top is sealed and the piece is stable enough not to tip. A compact side table has less visible surface than a dining table, but cups, lamps and keys still create repeated contact. A honed finish is less revealing than polish in ordinary use.

These are family ranges. The ASTM C503 marble specification and Natural Stone Institute care guidance provide terminology and maintenance context, not a guarantee for an unnamed slab.

What size side table works with a sofa or chair?

The top should land near the arm and leave enough space for the object it serves. A 350–454 mm (13.8–17.9 in) diameter suits a compact lamp, drink or book; 580 mm (22.8 in) is better treated as a small occasional table and needs a checked walkway.

Measure the sofa arm, seat height, wall gap and the swing of nearby doors. The coffee-table sizing guide also explains how to test furniture footprints on the floor.

Why does the base matter more than the top's thickness?

A narrow-footprint side table can tip if the top is heavy and the base is small. Bearing under the top, the footprint of the foot, the connection between stone and support, and the height-to-width ratio all control stability.

The Nero Marquina and glass design cannot be assessed as a solid stone table. A glass component may reduce visual mass, but it also introduces bonded interfaces, edge protection and a different load path. Request a section drawing and hardware list for any mixed-material or hollow build. The stone-weight calculator can compare the stone element only.

How should a small stone table be protected?

Use a coaster for acidic drinks and wipe spills before they dry. Lift a lamp or vase instead of sliding it and place felt underneath hard objects. Avoid acidic cleaners and abrasive pads; verify the sealer on the underside or another hidden area before treating the whole top.

Check that the base stays level and that fixings remain snug. Do not use the top as a step or lever. Marble etching is not removed by ordinary washing, so the marble cleaning and etching guide is the next reference when a mark remains.

What can change on a custom side table?

Diameter, height, stone, finish, edge and base form can be specified in a drawing, but their feasible combination must be confirmed. A larger top needs a corresponding support footprint; a narrower body can preserve clearance but increase tipping risk.

Send the sofa or chair dimensions, intended lamp footprint, floor finish and access route. The custom stone furniture process explains approval stages. Commercial quantities, schedule and price are set only in the quotation.

Which side-table questions matter most?

The answers below focus on height, mixed construction, top load and outdoor use.

How high should a marble side table be beside a sofa?

A practical starting point is the sofa-arm height, commonly around 500–600 mm (20–24 in). The 18 side tables finish at 440–560 mm (17.3–22.0 in), so the 560 mm group is the closest to many sofa arms. Measure the actual arm and account for a lamp or cup.

Is a glass-and-marble side table as strong as solid stone?

It cannot be judged from material names alone. One Nero Marquina design pairs marble with glass, so its strength depends on the base, bonding and supported span rather than the stone label. Ask for the construction drawing and do not treat a stone surface as proof of a solid stone body.

How much does a 454 mm round marble top weigh?

A solid 454 mm diameter, 20 mm thick top at 2.7 t/m³ weighs about 8.8 kg (19.4 lb). At 30 mm thickness it is about 13.1 kg (28.9 lb). A carved pedestal, hollow body, glass component or separate steel base changes the complete piece weight.

Can a marble side table go outdoors?

It may, but only after the stone, finish, base and climate are checked together. Rain, salt, freeze-thaw cycles and repeated sun exposure create different risks. Polished indoor marble is not automatically a suitable exterior surface, and an outdoor location should be reviewed as a full assembly.
